Introduction to Kymograph's Blog

For a while, years ago, when the blogosphere was still an active and vibrant community online, I kept a blog about Experimental Psychology — that was the first iteration of Kymograph. At the time, still an undergraduate student and about to begin my PhD, the blog was little more than a repository of short outreach texts about my chosen professional and scientific field. These followed my interests and often merely reflected the still exploratory, and rather unsystematic, reading I was doing then. Over time, my availability to keep up the blog gradually diminished, in almost direct proportion to the rise and widespread adoption of social media as the preferred way of maintaining an online presence. Eventually I ended up deleting the blog, keeping only the vague notion that I might one day return to the project.

Years later, now with a well-established scientific profile and considerable accumulated teaching experience, I find myself with far more to say and write than just a few scattered texts recycling books and articles written by others. In this sense, this new version of Kymograph is, primarily, a personal page, featuring scientific and pedagogical content related to my areas of work. But, secondarily, this is also an opportunity to resume maintaining a blog, as a more personal, lasting way of keeping an online presence — one less subject to the algorithmic whims of social media.

Hence this section. This will be a space reserved for content more general and less specific than the other sections. Here you may find reflections, short essays, news, or notes on relevant events, updated whenever I have the time and availability to do so. Keeping to the essence of what a blog is, and knowing myself as I do, periods of high activity, with a flurry of posts, will certainly alternate with stretches of relative inactivity.

Eventually, and gradually, this may come to form a repository of interesting material that complements the other sections.
